Who is responsible: HWTUTU is written and edited by Liu Xi, the site’s founder and developer. Liu Xi is a software engineer, not a certified outdoor guide, physician or dietitian. This page explains the standards the site follows and the limits of what it can promise.

What we publish

HWTUTU publishes free outdoor calculators, checklists, practice tools and plain-language guides for camping, hiking and outdoor skills. We focus on practical questions — how long a route takes, what to pack, how a rating works — rather than news, gear deals or destination hype.

The site is English-first and written for a global audience. It is not legal, medical, financial or professional advice for your specific situation.

How content is researched and written

  1. Define the question. Each page starts with a specific question or task a reader is trying to complete.
  2. Gather primary sources. We prefer official land-agency or park guidance, published formulas and standards, manufacturer documentation and peer-reviewed material where it exists.
  3. Draft with AI assistance. AI tools help outline, draft, translate, summarise and check consistency. They are treated as a first draft, not a source of truth.
  4. Edit for accuracy and clarity. A human editor reviews structure, internal consistency, numbers, units, claims and obvious errors before publication.
  5. Label uncertainty. Estimates, approximations and research-based conclusions are described as such. We do not invent test results, credentials or first-hand experience.

Sourcing and attribution

We aim to write original explanations and to link to sources rather than copy them. Where a formula comes from a published standard or a named method, the relevant page identifies it. If a source is wrong, outdated or misapplied, we want to know.

We do not scrape and republish other sites’ articles, and we do not present manufacturer marketing copy as independent advice.

AI use

AI tools are used to draft, outline, translate, summarise and check content. They can produce plausible but wrong statements. We treat AI output as a first draft, correct errors when they are reported, and do not use AI to fabricate authors, testimonials, reviews or credentials.

Independence, advertising and affiliate links

HWTUTU displays advertising through Google AdSense. It does not currently use affiliate links for products mentioned in guides or tools, and it does not accept sponsored posts or paid placement. Advertising does not buy editorial coverage, positive conclusions or product placement. Advertisers do not review or approve content before publication.

The current status is described in the Affiliate Disclosure. Display advertising is described in the Advertising Disclosure. If affiliate links or sponsored posts are added in future, they will be clearly labelled and disclosed on the page where they appear.

Health, fitness and safety content

BMI, body-fat, hydration, calorie, heart-rate and hiking-time tools are educational screens, not medical devices or diagnoses. Guides about first aid, weather, altitude, water treatment and similar topics are general education, not a substitute for training or professional advice. For anything safety-critical, use official guidance and your own judgement, and carry the right equipment for the conditions.

Corrections and updates

If you find an error, an outdated figure, a broken source or a safety concern, email liuxihope@gmail.com with the page URL and what you believe is wrong. Safety-critical reports are prioritised. We review the source, correct or remove the material where appropriate, and update the page date when a substantive change is made.

Pages may be updated when standards, formulas, regulations or product specifications change. Content that can no longer be maintained accurately may be revised or removed rather than left online as stale advice.
