Liu Xi
Liu Xi is the founder, editor and developer of HWTUTU. They built the site’s calculators, the Spring Boot API and the deployment pipeline, and they are responsible for the editorial process described here.
They are a software engineer, not a certified outdoor guide, physician, dietitian or gear tester. HWTUTU’s guides are compiled from public sources, published formulas, land-agency guidance and manufacturer documentation, with AI-assisted drafting and human editing. Where a page claims first-hand testing, it says so explicitly; most content is research-based.
The aim is to make outdoor planning easier without pretending to be an authority the site is not. If something is wrong, outdated or unclear, email a correction and it will be reviewed.
What I work on
- Outdoor planning calculators and data-driven tools
- Camping and hiking research, sourcing and editing
- Web application development (Java, Spring Boot, Vue)
How this site is edited
The editorial process is public: what we publish, how sources are chosen, how AI is used and how corrections are handled. Read the Editorial Policy, the Testing & Methodology and the Content Sources & Accuracy statement.
The short version: most guides are research-based, not first-hand tests. Health and fitness tools are educational screens, not medical advice. Safety-critical details should always be checked with the official land agency, manufacturer or a qualified professional.
